A lot of times you may get disconnected from the internet because your TCP/IP and your Client for Microsoft Networks adapters need to be reset. Sometimes those files wear out.

Keeping the drivers up to date can definitely be a good habit. By and large, most modems perform the same but when it comes to driver support, one manufacturer could be better than another.

Yes, you are right it is supposed to do it automatically, but alas that particular model did not work well with my configuration. The new router I got had no trouble at all.

That is strange. It should do that automatically. In fact I'm pretty sure that even if you have power saving enabled it won't kick in until the download completes. Still that is the first thing I would check.

It's very important also to keep updating your network equipment's drivers periodically. This can improve performance and in some cases, even solve some issues.

For your info, im using a switch connected to 3 pc's and a modem. Currently, ive configured the network to use internet gateway, but it really reduced the speed of some of the pc's, i would like to know any better way to configure the network(e.g. configuring the modem firmware, etc) and also getting the speed that i deserve. Thank you
