A Busy Week for Johnny Optimist

Well, it has been a busy week here.  Here is a recap:

:) Monday - From Pink Slip - Adjusting the designs on Specific products.  Everything went about as planned here, great start to a week.  I logged into CafePress, made adjustments to sizes of designs on some of the products so they fit correctly, wrote out the steps, and all was happy in Johnny Optmist land. :)

:| Tuesday - Blogmaster General - Pictures make it better!  Everything was going fine until I actually tried to load the picture I wanted to use as an example.  The thing wouldn’t load and I was quickly running out of time so I couldn’t convert it to another format.  I also had issues with Internet Explorer not allowing me to view my CafePress shop.  I had loaded the picture onto a shirt, created a section for it, and done all the steps (about a 20 min job), and then couldn’t even see it to download a picture of the shirt because Internet Explorer deemed the site potentially hazardous.  I kept telling it to let me view it anyway and it would not listen.  Furstration ensued and I had to publish a post about how pictures made thing better WITHOUT PICTURES!   :(    Later that night, being the obsessive person I am, I adjusted the file type of my original picture, and uploaded it, and this time it worked.  I then tried to go view my shirts on my shop, and again it would not let me.  So I took an end-around on IE and searched for my shirt in the CafePress marketplace and PAZOW! I could view my shirts. :)   So I made another post with the picture & the shirt, and it gave a good comparison to the earlier post w/o pictures.  All was happy in Johnny Optimist land once again.  :)

:( Wednesday - Mitchendise - Inserting Illustrations and continuing on with the book completion.   I opened my site, and then remembered it was Wednesday and had a review to do on another shop owner review site (Shopkeeper Designs).  So I happily went over there and reviewed a shirt by At Ease Tees, and away I went.  Then I get an email from one of the sites I help with.  The server is down.  I click refresh on Mitchendise (on the same server) and sure as molasses the server is down.  7am where I am, and 6am where the owner of the server is.  I call anyway and leave a message.  Nothing I can do really.  Send a couple emails as well.  Site is back up by Noon, and then I make my post that evening.  This whole process accelerates a process of moving to a new hosting provider.  I chose BlueHost. Reliable, Affordable Business Hosting from Bluehost.com.  Turns out they are one of the top WordPress recommended hosting providers.  Perfect for the site that I am going to transfer.  I sign up, start looking at the control panel, etc. Busy day in the end though.  :|

:| Thursday - Click Into Action - Further steps to Start Building a Brand.  Insert my next post about how to start a brand.  This is an ongoing series of posts designed to help people “Start”.  I have read a lot about how many bloggers hear “I don’t know where to start” and Click Into Action’s current post series solves that problem.  From the beginning, it is going to show how to build a brand.  Not only will it say – sign up for hosting, get a website, but it will then go into more specifics like “what should I write about” and then deliver specific post subjects.  So over the next 2 months if someone wanted to build a brand, they could just by using the free info on Click Into Action.  Step-by-step instructions and subjects for each post.  It can’t get easier.  I will even give picture recommendations.  Day ended with me looking further into the control panel on the BlueHost and finding the area for the FTP – so now most of the files are already uploaded into the appropriate folders and we wait until tonight to turn off the old site, export the WP database, and import it into the BlueHost account.   I also spent several hours trying to get my mower to work (got fresh gas, replaced spark plug, air filter) I may have flooded it so I will have to try again tonight, but I ended up smelling like gas – ick.  Of course, I am very Optimistic that everything will go very smoothly and all will again be happy in Johnny Optimist land.  :)

:) Friday - Johnny Optimist - This post.  We will have to see how the transfer goes.  I have been told that transferring from one server to another is a painful job and one that should not be done very often.  I will let you know how it goes, hopefully there will be a happy ending in the land of Johnny Optimist. :)
